Overdone?

Hollywood SignImage via WikipediaI'm working on a new book, and there's something I'm a little worried about. I think my hero has been "overdone."

Declan O'Donnell is a movie star.

See what I mean? The problem is Declan has always been a movie star in my head. I toyed with making him a Hollywood type but in the background. A manager. An agent. A writer. But at the end of the day, our characters tell us who they are; we don't tell them who to be. So Declan is a movie star. I've always wanted to write a contemporary with a famous hero or heroine, but there are so many of these out there. Is there room for one more?

I guess we'll find out. In the meantime, Declan O'Donnell and Dr. Maggie Brennan are getting to know one another on the page.
